Istanbul Tours
Chora Museum: The mosaics and frescoes in St.
Savior are by far the most important works of Byzantine
pictorial art known today, in terms of both their beauty
and their number. It is fascinating to realize that they
are coeval with the frescoes of Giotto in Italy. And
while different in certain particulars, they nonetheless
appear to radiate the same sense of living, breathing
reality so characteristic of the Early Renaissance.
